Westpac

Australia’s FIRST BANK AND OLDEST COMPANY

the challenge

Westpac began the process for its 2023 Enterprise Agreement (EA) in mid 2022, ensuring its people understood the details of the proposed EA and their rights as employees.

Westpac engaged Enspire to create a comprehensive campaign to ensure employees understood the terms and conditions of the agreement and to encourage employees to actively participate in the voting process and have their voice heard.

Despite the tight and shifting timeframes, Enspire’s proactive and flexible approach proved to be a success with more than 70% of employees voting.

the enspire touch

The well-rounded campaign included:

Comprehensive communication support: We provided communication and marketing support that covered all aspects of the EA process. This included crafting engaging content and a digital campaign to inform employees about the importance of voting and the significance of the enterprise agreement.

Collaborating with external stakeholders: We worked with multiple stakeholders including Legal and Employee Relations to ensure messages were clear, accurate, and aligned with their perspectives. This ensured a cohesive and unified approach to the communication strategy.

Engaging foyer activities: To create a buzz around the voting process, we organised engaging foyer activities at key locations around Australia. These activities were designed to attract attention and generate interest, encouraging employees to participate in the voting process.

Reaching-out to employees on leave: To ensure every eligible employee had an opportunity to vote, we implemented a targeted mailout campaign to reach those on leave. This demonstrated a commitment to inclusivity and encouraged all employees to be part of the decision-making process.
