the challenge

When In 2017, three young people from the Ngukurr community in Arnhem Land were the first students from their region to go to University in thirty years. The young students worked closely with Assoc.Prof. Emilie Ens and the staff at the University’s Walanga Muru Aboriginal Support Unit.

To increase access to higher education in Indigenous communities, Assoc. Prof. Ens and her team worked out a way to make higher education more accessible to Indigenous communities - and the Wuyagiba Regional Study Hub was born. Through a successful trial program in 2018, the Hub demonstrated its potential, with 15 students completing a uni prep course taught by local Elders and university staff.

While the Hub's pilot program had positive outcomes, its visibility was limited due to the absence of an online presence. The Hub struggled to generate awareness about its crucial role in facilitating Indigenous students' path to university. Enspire recognised the need to build an online platform that would serve as a central hub for information, donations, and mission promotion.

WE HAVE CREATED A TWO-WAY UNIVERSITY PATHWAY PROGRAM 'OUT BUSH'

the enspire touch

We embraced the challenge and stepped in to create an online presence for the Hub, highlighting its mission and facilitating donations, ultimately leading to a $5 million government grant.

The core components included:

Vibrant online presence: we created a website that showcased the Hub's mission, unique teaching methods, and inspiring success stories. The website emerged as an informative hub for potential students and donors.

Creating a social media presence: we devised a social media strategy using Facebook. Through captivating content, compelling success stories, and timely updates, the Hub's reach expanded exponentially, fostering meaningful connections with a diverse audience.

Compelling communication strategy: we collaborated with the Hub team to develop key messages that effectively conveyed the significance of Indigenous education and celebrated the transformative impact of the Wuyagiba Study Hub. The team was then able to seamlessly integrate the messages across all communication channels.

Targeted audience analysis: we conducted an audience analysis, unveiling potential donors, students, and educational stakeholders. Armed with invaluable insights, we were able to tailor content, ensuring maximum impact with the intended audience.

Definitely helped give us a web presence and promote the fabulous and hard work of Wuyagiba Study Hub staff and students. It has been a huge achievement for Mel in getting her Bachelor of Arts majoring in Education - her dream came true! Thanks to you and everyone who helped along the way, too many to mention!”
