the challenge

Following the acquisition of Members Equity Bank Limited (ME Bank) in July 2021, BOQ had the challenge of how to best integrate ME Bank with the existing businesses. Enspire was engaged to develop an internal communications approach to increase people engagement, get teams excited about the future and make sure they had the information they needed to do their role.

The Bank of Queensland is A leading regional bank of Australia, which acquired ME bank in 2021.

An Enspire consultant was appointed as the Integration Communications Lead to support the communications and engagement to support ME Bank acquisition and integration program.

Key activities included:

  • development of strategy and engagement for implementation of new Group Operating Model and messaging and communications materials for organisational restructure

  • review of existing communications channels and saw the need for a new channel - an Integration Update - to ensure teams were kept updated with the program’s progress and any actions they needed to take

  • celebration for coming together as one team, ‘We Day’, including local events, merchandise, digital activations and Group-wide communications 

  • engagement with internal teams to promote opportunities on Careers Hub

  • support for Senior Leadership event with messaging and events 

  • employee engagement on BOQ vision

  • content creation for annual campaigns and initiatives

  • ongoing promotion and events to celebrate BOQ success stories
